FAQs
Not sure whether your car needs an AC recharge, an alignment or both? Here are straight answers to the questions Fort Worth, TX drivers ask us most. If you don't see yours, our team is a quick call away.
AC Recharge
The clearest sign is air from the vents that feels warm or only mildly cool. Other signs include the cabin taking longer to cool down, the AC working on mild mornings but struggling in afternoon heat, and the compressor cycling on and off more often than usual.
R134a was the standard refrigerant in most vehicles for decades, while R-1234yf is the newer refrigerant found in most vehicles built from the mid-2010s onward. R-1234yf has a much lower environmental impact but costs more and requires dedicated equipment, which is why recharging it is usually more expensive.
Look for a sticker under the hood, usually on the radiator support or near the front of the engine bay. It lists the refrigerant type and the system's charge capacity. If you can't find it, we can identify it for you when you bring your vehicle in.
A recharge restores cold air, but if the system has a leak, the refrigerant will escape again over time. Our performance check helps determine whether low refrigerant is from a leak or gradual loss, so you know what to expect before we recharge.
A healthy, sealed AC system should not need frequent recharging. If your AC loses its cooling power within weeks or months of a recharge, that usually points to a leak that needs attention.
Most AC recharges are completed in about an hour, depending on your vehicle and the condition of the system.
Wheel Alignment
An alignment adjusts three angles: camber (the inward or outward tilt of the wheel), caster (the angle of the steering axis) and toe (whether the wheels point inward or outward). Setting these to factory specs helps your vehicle drive straight and wear tires evenly.
It depends on your suspension. Vehicles with a solid rear axle, including many trucks, typically need a two wheel front end alignment or thrust angle alignment. Most modern cars, crossovers and SUVs with independent rear suspension need a 4 wheel alignment.
Yes, it's strongly recommended. An alignment protects your new tires from uneven wear and helps you get the full life out of your investment.
Yes. A hard hit from a pothole, curb or road debris can shift your alignment angles instantly. If your steering feels different or your car starts pulling after an impact, have your alignment checked.
It can. When wheels aren't pointed in the same direction, they create extra rolling resistance, which makes your engine work harder and can lower your gas mileage.
No. Alignment adjusts the angles of your wheels so the vehicle tracks straight, while balancing corrects weight distribution in the tire and wheel to prevent vibration. A car pulling to one side is usually an alignment issue, while a shaking steering wheel at highway speed is more often a balancing issue.
Most alignments take about an hour. Vehicles with worn or seized suspension parts may take longer.
